It’s me…and me?

I went as marine recon and went for the full face paint route. My coworker, who’s at least a foot taller than me, went as me. Even on his knees he’s almost as tall as me!

We had a costume contest at work and he won first place! That brought me no end of joy. The very fact that my coworkers acknowledge the caricature that I am and embrace it…or at least tolerate it. 😉

Other news, I’m loving the integration that flickr has with blogs. I post regularly to flickr and I think the ability to update to my blog directly will give me more to write about and keep my writing more consistent.

Have a happy and safe Halloween!

URL mess all worked out

Monday, October 31st, 2005

Finally! I got my sub-domain URL set up correctly now so that points to this blog. This is much cleaner than the previously created I don’t know if there are repercussions that both URLs work. We’ll see. If someone hijacks the blog, well, you’ll know what happened.

Found at lunch today. Mercifully, there wasn’t dog shit next to the sign. That would have been the ultimate irony.

Bad Movies

Sunday, October 30th, 2005

Have you been to the movie theater lately? Not I. Why not? Because, quite frankly, movies these days suck. Suck hard. They’re definitely not 10 dollars worth of entertainment, and there’s a question of whether or not they’re even 7 dollars worth of entertainment.

Take a trip to and look at the Box Office for the previous week.

Some choice points to point out. The remake of The Fog got an 8%. 8%! Why is there even a remake? Isn’t the original enough?

Doom got an 18%. A movie based on a video game. Why!? Many people had to say yes for this movie to be greenlit. The first-person section leaves a lot to be desired.

Good Night, And Good Luck
got a 97%, but has only grossed $7.2 M. Critically acclaimed, historically based, but not popular. Figures that something with the potential to teach people something would gross poorly.

And that’s why more crap gets made. People vote with their dollars, and their dollars say, “Treat us like idiots.”

Back from the grave.

Saturday, October 29th, 2005

So I’m trying this new blog out, after a long hiatus. Why am I back? I think it’s the desire to be heard in a public forum. This is my own personal little soapbox, just the right size for my feet. I was posting using movable type before and stopped to make my home site a little more professional. It also sucked that all the new comments I was getting was just being spammed by comment spammers, the scum sucking bottom dwellers of the earth.

I had started posting journal entries on TFP, which is a great community with excellent moderation and intelligent members. The people reading it had lots of insight, but the lack of exposure really bothered me. It was good to know if people viewed the journal, but I knew it was just the same 4 people. Ironically, if I move it out to here, it’ll be a different set of 4 people looking at it.

I found out that Dreamhost (an excellent host, btw) had a quick installer for WordPress, another blogging software. It doesn’t matter to me which software I use. The point is to be read.

So here I am again.
